This 2014 edition of our flagship series of reports contains statistical data, information and insight into the textile and apparel industries in the EU.
The report identifies important trends and includes information on: production of textiles and clothing; textile and clothing imports by supplying country; textile and clothing exports by destination country; and textile and clothing trade balances. It also analyses trade and production activities in each EU member state and provides an outlook.
This report presents a wealth of information and is essential for anyone who is considering sourcing from, selling to or investing in the EU and its leading supplying countries and export markets. In 2013 EU textile and clothing exports to countries outside the EU increased. However, textile and clothing production declined during the year, having also fallen in the previous year. Imports of textiles and clothing into the EU increased, representing a partial recovery following declines in the previous two years. Meanwhile, the average price of EU textile and clothing imports declined.
Furthermore, there were declines in the average prices of imports from 16 of the 20 leading textile supplying countries and declines in the average prices of imports from 15 of the 20 leading clothing supplying countries.
