Netherlands based Knitwear Lab and AGR have joined forces to create a 15-piece knitwear capsule, as part of AGR’s SS22 collection, revolving around the brands’ mutual passion for bold colours and expressive patterns.

Knitwear Lab’s senior programmer Francesca Pedrini used her technical expertise to realize the creative vision of AGR’s creative director Alicia Robinson. Key inspirations draw from the hypnotizing colour-intensive immersions by Rothko and Roy Colmer, the quirks of ordinary life as portrayed by Martin Parr and the ecstatic visual language of nineties rave culture.

Through combining authentic craftmanship with the latest knitwear technology, Knitwear Lab and AGR continue to rejuvenate the dowdy image and push the boundaries of knitwear today.

SS22 15-piece Capsule Collection

Stripes and gradients are an integral element of AGR’s brand DNA. In collaboration with AGR, Knitwear Lab experimented with emulating spray and pixels into jacquard for the 15-piece capsule with the highest-quality fine Merino wool made on Knitwear Lab’s Stoll ADF multi-gauge knitting machines.

Based on this, one of the statement pieces of the 15-piece capsule - the Cherish cardigan - translates a mural by artist Joe Holbrook painted on the wall of AGR’s own studio into jacquard. From December-January onwards the collection will be sold as part of AGR’s SS22 collection through AGR and Knitwear Lab’s web stores and AGR’s stockists such as DSM, SSENSE, Browns, Net-a-Porter and H Town.

Since AGR was founded in June 2019, the experimental brand has grown at an exceptionally fast rate. The brand has caught the eye and dressed the likes of Jorja Smith, Burna Boy, Anderson Paak, Greenteapeng, Mahalia, Slow Thai and Yung T & Bugsey. AGR was established through Alicia Robinson’s extensive work as a Freelance Knitwear Designer with brands such as Yeezy, A-Cold-Wall and Missoni, over the past 5 years.

Knitwear Lab develops innovative, sustainable, and design-driven knitwear solutions. Over the past years the studio has grown to be one of Northern-Europe’s most prominent research and knowledge hubs for knitwear. Knitwear Lab’s programmers work with the latest Stoll ADF flat knitting machines. This is the first of a series of collaborations for Knitwear Lab with high-end brands.
