BlocAid seamlessly knitted gloves are made with prevention in mind for teachers and students by GHS Holdings, based in Bethel, Connecticut.
The gloves are distinguished by an antimicrobial and antibacterial barrier technology designed and engineered with EcoZinc, a safe FDA-approved ingredient that inhibits the growth and spread of harmful microbes. They are touchscreen compatible and developed and manufactured in the USA.
EcoZinc is incorporated into the fibre through an extruded yarn manufacturing process that gives BlocAid gloves self-cleaning properties and enables them to be re-used and washed multiple times without losing efficacy. Zinc is ‘Generally Regarded as Safe’ (GRAS) by the FDA, can be ingested and safely applied topically. The gloves are protective at all levels and are rated UPF 50+, with an actual rating of 99.996% UVA/UVB protection in daily use.
“Our main objective is to leverage my more than thirty years of expertise in glove manufacturing to help bring a solution to contain the spread of Covid-19 at its greatest peak, as well as to provide an additional level of safety for family, friends, community and society,” said Gary Schloss, CEO of GHS Holdings. “Hands are so critical in our day to day lives, and aside from airborne infection, they are a secondary source of contracting this virus by touching your face. By practicing safe hand hygiene protocols and wearing this product, we can offer an added layer of protection for a cleaner personal environment.”
Ecozinc is patented by HDry waterproof breathable technologies in North America.
