Delivering specific yet versatile properties for diverse applications, functional yarns and fibres are highly desirable in modern society with its evolving needs. Meanwhile, products that blend functionality with eco-friendliness are even more prized.
To seize growing market opportunities, a range of functional yarn and fibre exhibitors will gather again this year at Yarn Expo Autumn from 27-29 August, alongside other suppliers from China and abroad. Adding momentum to the green movement, a raft of innovative and sustainable options will be available at the fairground, in Hall 8.2 of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai).
Applicable to a number of in-demand industries, such as sports, healthcare, and automotive sectors, functional yarns and fibres are a rising sought-after category worldwide, according to the exhibition organiser Messe Frankfurt Hong Kong. Known for its Asia-leading reputation and high internationalism, Yarn Expo Autumn is an effective platform for suppliers to demonstrate the properties of high-performance products, including their anti-bacterial, UV protective, moisture-wicking, or other features.
This exhibition in China is booming, and the visitor flow is good
This autumn, notable functional exhibitors will once again present their collections at the fair, many of which are marked with eco-friendly labels. With other innovative and eco-friendly yarns and fibres on show, as well as fringe events themed around Messe Frankfurt’s Texpertise Econogy, the 2024 edition is set to integrate the desire for active business exchange with the need for sustainable production.
Adept at striking this balance, key functional exhibitors include:
Shaoxing Guozhou Textile New Material Co., Ltd. (China)
As one of the largest global MVS (Vortex) melange yarn manufacturers, the company’s well-recognised melange yarn brand Guozhou has a high market share. Guozhou has obtained the ISO9001:2000 and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 accreditations, as well as the OCS and the GOTS organic textile certifications.
Thai Acrylic Fibre Co., Ltd. (Thailand)
The company’s products are marketed under the brand name Birlacril, the first and only acrylic fibre brand to be a bluesign System Partner. Products include high quality dyed and raw white tow, top and fibre for various end-uses such as sweaters, blankets, carpets, and more. With over 30 varieties of acrylic fibre, the company serves both the commodity and the specialty high-end markets and is present in more than 40 countries. Final products made with their fibres are also marketed by a number of prestigious global brands in Europe and America.
The Movement B.V. (Netherlands)
With technologies from the Netherlands, the company will promote the revolutionary Polylana fibre. The product achieves the softness of a synthetic woolly fibre with a significantly lower environmental impact than acrylic. It is also versatile, traceable and 100% recyclable, and can be presented in both round and flat cross sections, offering countless ideas for innovative textile development.
Wai Hing HK Trading Co (Hong Kong, China)
A company under Weiyi Group. The group produces differential and functional nylon and spandex covered yarns for products including hosiery, socks, seamless, weaving, circular knitting, narrow weaving, denim fabrics, and more. It has obtained the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), the OEKO-TEX Standard 100, the ISO9001 Quality Management System and the ISO14000 Environmental Management System certifications.
Functional, sustainable products are key features of the fair’s global reputation and contribute to the fair attracting thousands of new and returning buyers from around the globe every year.
Speaking from his booth at the previous Autumn Edition, Mr Tatsuo Usui, Manager of the Performance Fibre & Materials Department from MN Inter-Fashion Ltd, Japan, said: “This exhibition in China is booming, and the visitor flow is good. Our company policy is that products should be safe, comfortable, and sustainable. We are showcasing yarns for flame retardant, protective layers, including viscose products and our newly developed specialised bio-based fibres. Other booths are also displaying sustainable and recycled options; therefore, customers can select the products that most fit their desired application and market requirements.”
