Leading Japanese computerized knitting machine manufacturer Shima Seiki Mfg., Ltd. will exhibiting at ITM Texpo Eurasia 2014 in Istanbul, Turkey next week with no fewer than 17 technology exhibits in the fields of flat knitting and fashion.

“Turkey’s knitting industry is rapidly gaining recognition as a provider of high quality and quick response for the European fashion market. As increased competition with China and other Asian markets becomes inevitable however, Turkey must shed its image of a simple manufacturing base and attract more business by acquiring the capability for its own product planning and proposals as a key to its own survival,” Shima’s Masaki Karasuno says.

At the same time, Shima says, Turkey is undergoing rapid growth as an exporter and its economy is booming. While economically sound, like all other textile markets before it, this presents a dilemma to its textile industry in the form of increased wages, Shima explains.

In such a labour-intensive industry this makes it increasingly difficult to remain competitive. Shima Seiki’s Wholegarment knitting technology offers an alternative to labour-intensive manufacturing, creating unprecedented knitwear with new forms of added value and to this end, a wide range of Wholegarment knitting machines will be exhibited at the company’s booth in Istanbul.

Shima will also exhibit a wide range of products for catering to the various needs of users in the Turkish market, including the entire range of available gauges on its all-new SVR series computerized flat knitting machine for shaped knitting, as well as the leading edge in coarse gauge and intarsia knitting. Also on display will be the SIP-160F2 textile printing machine that demonstrates new proposals in value-added knitwear.
