Italian socks knitting machine builder Busi’s dedication to environmental sustainability started in 2012. With the installation of a photovoltaic system at its factory, which was recently implemented up to reach 110 kWh, the company has now decided to take further steps in this direction.

Aiming to minimise the carbon footprint of Busi knitting machine manufacturing, the company is now presenting its latest initiative. For each Busi machine purchased from now onwards, one tree will be planted in the unique habitat of Torbiere del Sebino, with the purchasing customer receiving the relative certificate.

A local nature reserve since 1984, Torbiere del Sebino mainly consists of bodies of water and small forests, and it hosts a variety of animals and plants. Amongst the latter, Busi chose the Alder (Alnus glutinosa) - one of the ten best anti-smog trees, it prevents up to 2600 kilos of CO2 being emitted over 20 years and ensures good absorption of gaseous pollutants.

The Italian company says that Alders also play a significant climate mitigation role thanks to the microorganisms on their bark, which can assimilate otherwise emitted methane (CH4), a gas responsible for almost a quarter of global warming.

“We invite you to take a look at Torbiere del Sebino website to find out more about this special ecosystem which enriches the heritage of our city, Brescia,” says  Busi’s Managing Director, Catina Busi.

Since 1958 Busi Giovanni has specialised in the design and construction of single-cylinder machines with rib needles in the dial for the production of high-quality stockings, socks and tights. The company is a supplier to the most important producers of stockings, socks and tights, for the men's, women's and children's markets - classic, patterned, sports, technical-sports, as well as medical, with special solutions for graduated compression.

The family-run company sells in 63 countries around the world (90% export) through a network of partners that provide distribution and service.
