The 3rd edition of the Galleria Intima, India’s largest sourcing fair for intimate apparel professionals, organised by the Intimate Apparel Association of India, will this year take place from 18-19 August at the Grand Hyatt, Goa.
Last year the show attracted more than 300 visiting brands and this year, the exhibition promises to get even bigger as the organisers expect over 600 brands and more than 75 exhibitors to visit the event.
Successful show
Last year, the event was attended by 1200 visitors, 300 of which were intimate apparel brands from India. Global giants in the intimate apparel business, such as LYCRA, Chanty Laces, Carvico, Forster Rohner, Lenzing, Noyon Laces, Stretchline, Prym Intimate, Silueta, Lectra, Morgan Technica, Tuka Tech, Trischel, Alok Industries and many more, showcased their merchandise.
Ashok Reddy, of Lovable Lingerie, one of the major brands in the industry, commented: “Having attended the show last year as well, I can see the monumental progress that has been made in the entire Indian intimate apparel industry. The strength and response this event has received this year leaves no doubt in my mind about the kind of advancement I am expecting in the industry in the next five years. The future looks bright.”
Brands
Panel discussions and presentations with participation from influential titans are sure to set the industry abuzz with what the future will bring, the association believes.
Last year’s panelists included Shekar Tewari of Hanes, Ajay Amalean of Amante, Sunil Pathare of VIP, Ashok Reddy of Lovable, Rakesh Grover of Groversons, Uttam of Intimate Apparels and Sumir Hinduja of Enamor. This year, a wide variety of the industry relevant topics will be discussed.
Quality and inspiration
The special selection of contemporary merchandise on display is expected to reveal a wealth of insights for visitors to take home. “For the last two years, the IAAI has left no stone unturned in raising awareness amongst both intimate apparel suppliers as well as brands, about the significance of this platform that can go a long way in bridging demand-supply gaps in the industry,” said Yusuf Dohadwala, CEO of IAAI.
“And, Galleria Intima has achieved this goal commendably, by addressing the bottlenecks in this raw-material deprived industry head-on. However there is still a lot of ground to be covered, despite the tremendous progress and this will be seen to in Galleria Intima 2014.”
“This time the focus is not just on quantitative increase of exhibition space; rather a more qualitative approach is taken. The idea is to get into intricate detailing while also enhance the number of visitors to this event. After all, the ultimate goal is to make this the most important annual event for not just the Indian intimate apparel industry but also all of Asia, as a whole.”
