The company has announced that its Roica EF has obtained the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certification by the influential Textile Exchange also applied to the waistband. “Thanks to its premium stretchability features, Roica EF is the perfect ingredient for high-quality and smart tights,” the company said in a statement today. “The yarn is a member of the ROICA Eco-Smart family, the Roica range dedicated to sustainability.” Roica EF is made with 58% of pre-consumer recycled content.

“The new GRS certification of Roica EF will allows us to offer producers and brands to become a responsible and proactive part of the innovation process,” comments Hiroaki Shinohe, Roica Chief Marketing Officer based in Germany. “From now on there is no Excuse. Roica EF for both leg parts and waistband is the last piece solution to fully sustainable and certified tights.”

The GRS certification is intended to meet the needs of companies looking to verify the recycled content of their products, both finished and intermediate, and to verify responsible social, environmental and chemical practices in their production. The objectives of the GRS are to define requirements to ensure accurate content claims and good working conditions, and that harmful environmental and chemical impacts are minimised.
