Continuous market challenges have recently prompted the R&D Department at leading seamless knitting machinery manufacturer Santoni to modernise its complete range of circular knitting machines. Accordingly, the Brescia, Italy based company is now ready to rollout the worldwide launch of its completely updated SM8 TOP2V machine, which supersedes the current SM8 TOP2 model.
Commenting on the company’s latest offering, Marketing Manager Patrick Silva told Knitting Industry: “It is a conceptually new machine that is provided with numerous exclusive patents. It offers exceptional productivity, on average 30% higher than the current model and is incredibly energy efficient.”
“It is an innovative technology as it allows our machines to have a small footprint. This combined with improved ergonomic design for ease of servicing, offers a potential 30% extra production for the same floor space overhead.”
“Amazing energy saving”
But the SM8 TOP2V is not just about increased productivity. It’s also about energy conservation and playing a part in protecting the environment, as Patrick Silva explains:
“Combine this with a 15% reduction in energy consumption and you have a machine offering improved environmental sustainability.”
“On top of these advantages, the new machines are user friendly, with completely newly developed strategic knitting parts such as the yarn fingers group and new sinker cap for top quality wool and natural yarn plating so that an improved final product fabric quality can be obtained.”
The very latest materials are used in the construction of the SM8 TOP2V. Materials such as carbon fibre are employed to reduce movement of parts, lower consumption and what Santoni refers to as ‘amazing energy saving’.
The SM8 TOP2V machine is an electronic single jersey circular machine with 8 feeds and 2 selection points per feed. The machine is designed for the efficient production of single jersey seamless garments for underwear, outerwear, beachwear, sportswear and sanitarywear. Full technical specifications for the machine will be published in due course.
