Newly elected Chairman of the Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association Zia-ur-Rehman, has expressed his resolve to meet the challenges of the time and to give a boost to the export sector by adopting diversified marketing techniques and practical support to the industry, The International News reported yesterday.
Mr Rehman was speaking after his unopposed election as Chairman of the PHMA at a Zonal Committee of the Association meeting held in Lahore to elect office bearers for the year 2008-2009.
According to The International News, Adil Butt and Salamat Ali were also elected as Vice Chairmen of the trade body.
Mr Rehman said the knitwear industry is number one in the ranking of export products with about $1.9 billion earned during last year. Regarding globalisation, he urged exporters to exploit the hidden benefits. He said improving productivity, efficiency and reducing waste must be adopted to compete in the world market.
