Knitline Apparels sets up new Sri Lankan knitwear facility

High-tech garment factory will specialise in the manufacturing of flat knitted fashion knitwear

Knitline Apparels (Pvt) Ltd of Sri Lanka has signed an agreement with the country’s Board of Investment to set up a new knitwear manufacturing plant. Knitline Apparels will be setting up a high-tech garment factory specialized in the manufacture of flat knitted fashion knitwear. Under the agreement, signed recently, the company will manufacture knitwear items like pullovers, dresses, sweaters and beanies in Sri Lanka.

The agreement was signed by Mr Susantha Ratnayake, Chairman of the Board of Investment and Mr Riz Onies Chief Executive Officer of Knitline Apparels.

The company is planning to use modern machinery and technology developed by Shima Seiki in Japan to manufacture its products. The factory will be situated in Wattala with factory space of 12,000 square feet, enabling employment of an initial workforce of 80 people.

Mr. Riz Onies, CEO of Knitline Apparels, commented: “We want to create a truly sustainable system with zero inventory loss, zero leftovers, and zero waste.”
